What's the plan.

And especially where are you planning it......? The arrow points to Kastelli/Kissamos, right behind it is the small hamlet Kounoupitsa.

A plot of 2887 m2 and a (furure) habital surface of 400 m2 is a litlle big for a second home. Therefor we intend to turn our little spot into a small, intimate, slightly exclusive (but at normal prices) holidat complex.. The stable will be transformed into a freestanding holifay home with front,- and roofterraces.

The roof of the old house will be transformed into a small studio. The space next to it will be used to create an appartment. Both will have roofterraces. On the northside of the property we plan the construction of a maisonette.

A pool of 50 m2 will be dug out on the plot next to a little bar with barbecue area and a playground. Because of the situation of the plot we are able to create some sun,- and shaded areas next to the private areas.

The pool and adjoint bar will be situated as far as possible from the complex in order to guarantee peace and quiet for our guests. The accomodations will all have internetconnection and television.

In designing we had some major difficulties to convince our architect that the batrooms really should be bigger than the 2m2 as they are used to in Greece. Even in the more recent buildings bathrooms are of almost no concern. As a result people are struggling with toiletpaper and marriages are ruined trying to get use of the bathroom. Our pleas for bigger and more comfortable bathrooms are met with great distrust by our builders. In return we stand amazed over huge living rooms in which movement is almost impossible. Even our thoroughbread British agent thinks we are silly.

This is peculiar in a country where olive oil is consumed by the gallon. And we haven't even begun to discuss the problems women in their monthly discomforts meet in the land of Aphrodyte, Helen and the Sirens!

Next to this most appartmentbuildings are stacked on eachother (in Rethymno we saw a holiday village that remnded us of communal rentals). This is often the result of Greek planning regulations; the allowed build has to be connected. Because ur property lies in two different planningzones we are able to escape this rules and are allowed to build freestandig houses..

At this moment (April 2006) we are in the middle of the design fase and only rough layuts are set. Below are the sketches of the layout of the stable and the old house (new builds are yet to be designed.
