In December 2005 we bought, what
everybody thought, was a dump and a complete ruin. In April 2007,
however we've opened up Kastania Lodge, a small but beautiful,
holiday resort for people who love peace and quietness but don't
want to stay in "the middle of nowhere" and like to be
close to taverna's, bars, beaches and everyday, pure cretan
life.Up on a hill behind Kastelli/Kissamos (both names are used
in the Greek language), overlooking the wonderful bay of Kissamos
we have built our dream that we've called KASTANIA LODGE. This site used to be about "how to renovate an old farm on Crete" but since we have developed into an attractive place for holiday makers and have aquired the new project of VILLA CARPE DIEM, this site will be about how to spend the best holiday of your life.
We will keep the "old" site for sharing our experiences with people who are interested in buying a property in Greece. But due to changes in Greek law, it will have to be updated. Untill that time you can take a look at our links page to acquire information about buying and building properties in Greece.
KASTANIA LODGE is
a small and intimate holiday resort for families, couples and
individuals who want to enjoy the pure joys of west Crete without
being far away from the amenities of, let's say, 
Chania, Falsarna, Kastelli/Kissamos, the west coast,
Kolymbari. etc. etc. It consists of three different
accommodations: THE LODGE (former stable), THE STUDIO and the APARTMENT. These are located on a premises of
nearly 3000 m2 with the use of a pool of 50 m2 with bar
facilities and ample sunterraces.
We opened our Lodge on the 1. April 2007 and ever since then we have received a multiplicity of guests from all over Europe. You can read about their experiences in the guestbook.
In 2009 we are able to extend our resort with the extremely luxurious VILLA CARPE DIEM which is located in the quiet hamlet of Lyridiana at about 20 minutes drive from our Lodge. The villa is perfect for people who are looking for privacy, luxury and stunning sunsets.
