KASTANIA LODGE FULLY OPERATIONAL AND OPEN FOR BOOKINGS. WEBSITE WILL BE CHANGED. SEE FOR NEW ADVENTURES IN THE DUTCH PAGES.

On the left the site in October 2005 on the right in August 2007

This is the story of a Dutch couple living in Luxembourg who bought an old house and a stable on Crete. In April 2007, after doing extensive renovations, we've finished the work on the former ruins and opened a lovely and intimate accommodation for holiday makers: Kastania Lodge.

We chose the name Kastania because west Crete is famous for it's chestnut trees ("kastania" is Greek for chestnut) and also because the chestnut is symbolic for making a new start.

On this site you can read about "the making of" Kastania Lodge. It provides information for people who are looking for a wonderful place to spent their holidays on Crete but also for those who are planning to buy property on Crete.

On the menu on the left you'll see two diaries. The first diary one is about the building history (we were still living in Luxembourg at that time). The cretan diary is about our experiences while we are living on Crete. The ancient history is about the start of the project.

For information and bookings you can either click contact on the leftpage our e-mail us to kaslodge@otenet.gr.
